Parable of the Shell

With what can we compare real beauty in God’s eyes?

Take a shell from the shore. At first glance it may seem perfect, but when more closely viewed it may be found to be corroded, faded, and chipped. We forget that shells washed ashore were once the outer protection of shellfish.

Tell me, what is more beautiful in God’s eyes, shells or their former contents? Their contents - life - living and breathing, are most precious in His sight.

The life within our bodies are also more precious in God's sight than our ‘shells’! Ours too corrode, fade and chip.

Our souls, made fearfully and wonderfully in His image are real beauty in our Creator's sight!
